Carpentersville Illinois Real Estate

Only 35 miles northwest of the City of Chicago, Carpentersville rests along the banks of the Fox River in Kane County, Illinois.  Home to a diverse and youthful population of more than 37,000 people, the city was named after its founders, Charles and Daniel Carpenter who originally settled there in 1837.  Today, the nearly equal part Caucasian and Hispanic community continues to develop the 7.45 square mile township with numerous revitalization efforts and commercial development.  Nevertheless, they still maintain the affordable housing and strong schools that brought them there to begin with.

Most of the homes in the community of Carpentersville were built during the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s after which construction slowed until 1995 when further development resumed.  As of the year 2000 there were 8,936 homes within city limits. 97.8% of those were inhabited and a total of 7,006 homes were owner occupied leaving little room for renters.  Though the homes do vary in size and architectural style, typical owner occupied homes have about three bedrooms versus rental homes which generally only have one or two.  Finally, the median house sales price between 12/07 and the end of 2/08 was $163,000.

Located on Rt. 25 about two miles north of Interstate 90, Carpentersville is a short drive from all of the local schools and three different area hospitals.  In addition, residents are minutes away from numerous shopping centers, business parks, restaurants and recreational opportunities.  Favorite hot spots include Meadowdale Shopping Center, Spring Hill Center Industrial Park, Fox River Shores County Forest Preserve, and the Dundee Township Park DistrictDolphin Cove, a mini water park for hot summer days.

Finally, Carpentersville and its nearby surrounding areas are home to Elgin Community College and Harper College.  Younger students attend elementary, junior high and high school in the Barrington School District and the Community Unit School District #300.
